The Little Things

Walking down the road the other day,
You got a text from a friend.
The text read "You're wonderful! Keep being you."
You couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day.

As you were fixing breakfast yesterday morning,
You got an e-mail from your professor.
She said that you're research project was wonderfully written.
You stuck the withdrawal form in the shredder with confidence.

You are going to the bathroom to wash your hands.
When you turn off the faucet, you hear sobbing in one of the stalls.
You address the sobbing person and tell her everything will be OK.
Two weeks later that same girl will approach you and give you a hug.

Every day we face challenges;
We worry and pull our hair out
Until something as small as a smile brightens up our day.
Sometimes it's the little things that count.
