the long haul

on the passengers side
arctic and icy stalactites drip
black ice greetings.
on the drivers side
blue tubes wind from tree to tree
soft snow tells tale of muck boots
and early mornings.
a thick mist on overlook pass,
twin moons speed by on the road,
the foreheads of mountain tops
rise above the soup
quixotes giants spin on the peaks.
below the village, still,
sleeps in
