The Man I Knew

Winter's End

My soul did thirst for the summer's dawn
As my heart grew weary of the winter cold
Thoughts of joy my mind did spawn
As it sped through times of old

When as a child, I would dream of a life
A time where seasons I could choose to love
Where hopes and dreams of a peace most rife
Would descend upon me like a gentle dove

How sweet the innocence of youth
Where kind and tender thoughts abide
Like gentle rivers full of truth
As heart and soul run side by side

And now I come to understand
A truth my Lord so well expressed
The spirit of a child we must command
To enter His kingdom and seek His rest
