The Many Faces of Me

It's easy to fake a smile
And make others feel okay
But it dawned on me that, after a while
The happiness tends to stray
Coming from all directions
Is disappointment and hurt
Leaves me craving affection
That'll uplift me from the dirt
A broken childhood is only the beginning
That which jumpstarts the pain
But the random jokes and grinning
Help others believe I'm sane
No one cares to listen
If it's not about themselves
Because everyone's on a mission
Seeking an escape from their mental hells
Easy is what being strong has become
For it's all that I've grown to know
And although it may baffle some
It seems to help us grow
Wisdom stems from experiences
Some of which are concealed
Because passing judgement due to ignorance
Is what occurs when they're revealed
I've got me, in the end
And self-love which is my glue
It's key to be your own friend
Because sometimes no one's got you like YOU do!
