The Match

A flicker in my heart
The flame that you lit
From the very start.
It's nothing you said or did.
It was the ocean that is your eyes
And the light that is your smile.
None of this is a lie.
I just wish you could stay awhile.
A little more time
Before we must say goodbye,
But the bell with chime
And along with that a sigh.
Everything then a memory,
Everything we thought we knew,
Like a square with no symmetry.
We walk together without fear of what we won't do.
My dear, nothing must be said,
We allow the happiness to flow.
The flame you lit
Now my heart only glows.
