The Megalithic Cenotaph

By Bob

I dream the Megalithic Cenotaph

An edifice of unknown proportions and size

An edifice of serene contemplation prize

An edifice of sublime meditation prize

Building domes of immense diameter and rise

Building columns uncountable thick and high

Escher stairways through the building towards the sky

Stained glass archways never end keystones seem to fly

For a Cenotaph so astounding how many had to die?

This Poems Story

Étienne-Louis Boullée proposed a cenotaph for Isaac Newton, The building itself was to be immense 150 m (500 ft) tall sphere, taller than the Great Pyramids of Giza encompassed by two large barriers circled by hundreds of cypress trees. Though the structure was never built, This was my inspiration for the poem.
