The Midnight Party.

A friend's invitation, I couldn't decline,
Despite my doubts, loyalty shone divine.
We celebrated, laughter filled the air,
Until a gunshot shattered our joy beyond repair.

I turned to see, my heart sank low,
My friend lay fallen, blood flowing slow.
"Oh, dear friend, what did you do to deserve?"
Pain and shock gripped me, my world crashed and burned.

People fled, chaos reigned supreme,
I stayed beside you, tears streaming extreme.
Mourning, sorrow, and anguish entwined,
For my dear friend, left behind.

Police arrived, accusations flew,
"Guilty" they claimed, my heart anew.
Innocent, yet shackled and confined,
Grief and trauma, forever aligned.

Rest in peace, dear friend, so dear,
That fateful night, our last cheer.
The party's darkness, a memory scarred,
A night that took you, left me marred.
