The Milky Way

The Milky Way

when one dies
the shell
that is
the body
is left behind

the trip is too long to carry it.

a soul
that openly experienced absolute, ultimate, raw.
highs and lows
love and loss.
the beauty of the moon
and the darkness on the other side,

it is sent to the stars.

there it hums infinity.

illuminating the stars,

a soul afraid of the darkness
has not allowed itself to look up.
it leaves behind its shell
as it sets off into the
infinite space.
Blind to the stars.

Welcome to oblivion.
Milk nourishes our bones.
