The Modern Man, 2012

His mind tries to freeze time when it starts to grasp
How fast time is running, his heart feeling heavy
How could it be him, of all people? He asked
When bad turned to worse times, he just wasn't ready
His pride and his spirit, they hurt something deadly
My dreams, my plans! This should be my choice!
A toy or a snack, for my son, something petty
We don't have the money, he'd hear his own voice
The times that were tough, he wished he'd rejoiced
The coin makes no man, but without he's changed
He's hungry and angry with wounds that stay moist
And his mind plays the screaming and yelling and blame
At times he'll feel lost, afraid and alone
His neighbors the same, they'll lack having cash
But perhaps.they'll learn the true meaning of home
