The Monster Inside

There is a monster on the loose
Stealing the most precious jewels
It's victims suffering the most torturous punishment
Leaving behind permanent scars
Engraved into the surface as a reminder
Of the terrifyingly painful reality
That is waiting on the other side
Contemplating it's next move
To reflect the ugly shell on the outside
On display for everyone to see
The pressure from increasing expectations of society
Has made hiding seem pointless
No one seems to know what it's like
To have a hatred this strong
Inside a person that's become so weak
For a monster is on the loose
Never daring to show remorse
No one could ever guess that something this simple
Could bring so much pain
This hideous monstrosity
Yet to be revealed
The mirror
