The Moonkeeper

I watch as the moon shrinks slowly
And then floats down from the sky
To rest in the gondola in the hands of the Moonkeeper
With hundreds of other moons,
all round,
glowing,
gold spheres.

Waiting to be lifted out of the gondola
And into the water with the rest
to float there
With fireflies flying over the surface
A brilliant light show.
