The Music of My Heart

You were created just for me,
And you showed me how to play the melody of life.
You taught me to dream and showed me how to fly
When the tsunamis of life laid me low,
You raised me up and gave me strength to go on.
In seasons when others tried to steal my joy,
You helped me to see myself and to sing again.
Your love and respect for each other,
They showed me the true covenant of marriage.
Daddy danced and told stories with life lessons,
He commanded respect from all who knew him.
Mommy knew how to lead, but always waltzed by his side,
She lived what she believed and taught me to aim for the stars.
When I was growing up, you never understood me,
But you loved me and showed me how to be a woman, and a mother,
And you showed me the true meaning of being longsuffering.
As I looked around for someone to love,
You demonstrated that when a man loves a woman,
He treats her with respect.
The Lord gave me exactly the right parents,
Even though I was the cuckoo in your nest.
I am blessed that I got to make you proud of me,
But I wish I could have you both back,
So I could tell you I love you, one more time.
