The New Normal

January 1, 2020,
I woke up and gave thanks to the Almighty.
My joy was cut short, trouble stepped in,
Everything went haywire with Covid-19.

I miss the closeness, a hug i lack,
But the distance is six feet, you must step back.
I reserve my cough till my face turns blue,
Society frowns at coughing and sneezing too.

Thank God for technology, it is a treat,
Amen for Zoom and Google Meet.
That is the new way to meet and greet,
Whatsapp and Facebook makes it all complete.

Everywhere, there people losing jobs,
Black Lives Matter transforms them into mobs.
The economy has been declined like liquid in a flask,
Remember never to venture without your mask.
