The New You

Sometimes you just have to decide to wake up
Face who you are and suck it all down
Don't fear that sound
It's your becoming

The old you is always running,
trying to catch up with the new you
But she can't jump down your throat unless you let her

Every word she says hurts with every letter
Of every word she starts
And every sentence is so painful
The words fall on your head like heavy rainfall

Though all in all
You could have turned out a lot worse
You're no longer broken by every verse
Of the songs that hurt you

How you used to listen and it seemed like a message from the universe
Sent to destroy you

But be patient my dear
It only gets better from here
