The Night

The night
So peaceful
So quiet
Sky a soft, velvety black
Dotted here and there with stars
Bright as diamonds
The moon
Full and bright
Sheds its light for weary travelers who have lost their way
A soft wind whispers through the trees
Ruffling the feathers of one lonely owl
Perched upon the highest branch of the tallest pine
A creek bubbles gently somewhere deep in the forest
Twisting and turning as it makes its way to the coursing river
The night
So full sounds
And yet so quiet
So peaceful
