The Novel’s New Leaf

Reflected in his sword
He saw her:
Held dear.

The blade on his shoulder
Threatened throat:
And fear.

Father first, King second
He shows him:
Love mercy
He hears.

Pleas pounded down the door
To save him:
Gone, gone, gone
Oh where?

The prince, alive, bent knee
To propose:
Husband, son,
And heir.

Reflected in his reign
They see Him:
Father King -
The mirror.
