The Old

I sat under the Moon
And I let go
I felt an absence
A weight lifted
I said goodbye to the old
And Hello to the new
“This tastes like Sunshine”
My re-born soul said
“Don’t mimic your abuser’s World”
I always had to tell myself over and over again
I could be free
The weight lifted
I felt lighter and lighter
Freedom was happening to me
“Finally,” I thought
I had been waiting for this moment a long time
“Time’s up, honey”
The Universe said quietly
I let go of the past’s turmoil
It left me into a pool on the ground
As I sat under the Moon
I felt free as I ever could be
And I somehow felt the Sunshine
