The One

Scrolled upon the face of an ancient peak
Enscribed on the flanks of a running beast
Written on the wall of a bathroom stall
Emblazened on a skyscraper, big and tall
Messaged on a page of the world wide web
Scribbled in Greek on the footpost of a bed
Encoded in the text of a secret message
Etched above a doorway of a mysterious passage

These are some of the places I am contemplating
To tell the world of my intriguingly emancipating,
My total encompassing emergence
In an affair of the heart with a particular person

Her ways are unique. She is shrouded in mystique
There are pleasures to reap and memories to keep
I get lost in the ocean of her sea-green eyes
I smile when she laughs; I cringe when she cries

My need for her is a longing without border
My very soul would evaporate without her
She is my rock, my lifeline tether
She is my past, my present, and my forever
