The One Who Tried

It's just me, the one who tried, left broken and alone,
The day you left was the day I died, my soft heart turned to stone.
Long days I worked, my tired back hurt,
To find ways to make you smile,
Though in pain I was, it was worth it because,
You were with me all the while.
You used to laugh and hold me close, it set my spirit free,
I always knew the one was you, the special girl for me.
But life crept in and so I sinned, the path lost it be,
One day you said, with eyes of red, our love no longer could you see.
Now here I stand, a broken man, gave all I had to give,
With no more hope, I tie this rope, no reason left to live.
