The Only Beginning

The only beginning
that ever mattered
was the day you
asked to be a part of me.
A part of something
we could always be.
A stronghold,
is what you were to me.
Two years as opposed
to six months.
A love that lasted beyond
Life itself.
Took me in,
breathed me out.
Drank all the water,
left me the drought.
Decided to be oblivious,
left me so severe.
Stayed, to me, mysterious;
I wish you were still here.
I latched on to you,
and you just let go.
Never did you ever know,
that the only ending that ever hurt
was from the one beginning that ever mattered.
