The Open Road

All I see is the road ahead,
so many thoughts are running through my head.
I am tired, and tranquil, and I have peace of mind.
I look around, but I see no sign
no sign of what is to come or go
all I see is this open road.
I feel the loose gravel under my feet,
I feel sweat on my cheeks because of this burning heat
I hear a few cars whirring by;
I can almost smell rain, forming in the sky.
If I look really hard, I can see a few hills.
But I'll get through those hills- I will, yes, I will
I'll tread on, though I'm weary and I've not had much rest
because I know this road is only a test
a test of my strength, stability, and skill
the wind is picking up, but I remain still.
I will not give up, until I reach the end,
though this road is long, and I'm alone with no friends.
There are so many possibilities that this road holds,
opportunity is all I see in this open road.
