The Pain Of A Smile

They say pain lasts forever
While I know that isn't true
Wounds can't last forever
Although the memories will stain
All the emotions I feel
Will not leave in vain
The feeling of clarity will come once again
Leaving the rest of my being filled with peace
A course of joyous laughter filling my memory
Remembering ever so much
I remember her smile
It was more precious than gems
It was her laughter I overheard
But it turned into something much more horrid
All that was left was begging and pleading
Praying for someone to save her
But that was impossible
She was far too gone to be rescued
Far too lost to be saved
The smile was forever forgotten,
By all, except one
Her smile was remembered by me.
