The Pain of March

There's a funny pain in the world
Having known you've killed a pearl
All the games we would have played
All the baseball and board games
Your smile and laugh
Those beautiful eyes
These thoughts that often make me cry
But when I think of what could have been
With the woman that she was then
As tough as it is for me to say
I love you so, but it was not your time that day
I made a choice that scarred my heart
And often tears my world apart
You mean the world to me, my son
But don't you wait
Go have fun
You're in a better place than I
No sorrow, hurt, or goodbyes
And while I wait for my turn to see you
My heart, it weeps while I stay in this world without you
I cannot keep the thought of you in the dark
Not while the memory of you is in every beat of my heart
So hate me not for my choices of then
I promise, I will make it up to you
When I see you in Heaven
