The Pandemic

Panic then uncertainty,
replacing all I knew,
the experts lost my trust,
when their findings proved untrue.

Day after day,
we prepared for the worst,
walking backwards blindly,
as if the world was cursed

For the first time in my life,
the clocks shouted “halt”,
death struck every day,
and new cases looked for fault

During all this chaos
I was mentally swept away
peering deep inside
to keep the fear at bay

When I resurfaced,
I noticed a changed,
My smile had returned
With a peace I could claim

I’m embarrassed to admit it,
as so many paid a price,
this pandemic lit a spark,
which gave me back my life
