The Perils Of Mining Towns

In manitoba north of 51
there sprung a town on a gold vein run
This mine attracted people from all around
especially workers who toiled under ground.
Some stayed for awhile
others left for a different life-style
In the winter the land wore a blanket of white
at night the northern lights lit up the sky so bright.
foot prints left their trails in the snow
icicles hung from the cabins aglow.
Then came the news the gold had run out
Workers and families had to check out.
They were a pioneering breed
On to another mine-Godspeed
