The Place

The place where life beats in me
beats in me, beats me
when I think of you the sounds thrash inside and rip me
blood runs, and runs away, caresses the sorrow and carves a new cave
hollow, brave, and dying
dying for life and swallowing me whole
the lifeless strips now rise only a little and the calm begins
one last rise, one last moment of bravery,
one last movement of love as it trails the veins,
yearning to be filled again
one last story of voices within
this now blue cave still and young
still carrying the touch of a child
still wanting to be held
far away are the hands that held it
far away from joy
but alas the name carved in it
