The Poet’s Church

A poetic pipe-dream
of pinwheels and half pints
lazy pink horizons
velvety violet skies
echoing laughter at kites
happy rhymed delusions
foreshadowing seagull cries
the master of words
has no presence of mind
pondering flights of sheathbills
and rosary shells of tide
as a tidal scourge washes away
sand dunes sincerity
the single minded poet
dreams of a lighthouse with a spire
streaming chords of organ music
across the sea foam's ire
accompanied by a chorus
of bellbirds singing with desire
