The Poison Cup
Conflict borne, a rose's thorn,
a promise left unspoken.
For anger's sake the claim we stake
two foolish hearts lie broken.
Selfish pride, in tears we lied
to hide from our own sin.
So we sup the poison cup
we live to love again.
New day's dawn, carry on,
in silence hear the beating.
On mighty wings a whisper brings
forgiveness and its healing.
