The Politician

You trample our weak,
In your rise to the top
Allegedly to speak
For those that cannot
But foolish are your claims,
ironic is your mission
To advocate for the people,
To make the world listen
You're selfish, we all are.
But you conceal it well
Endearing yourself to the public
With the lies you tell
You're cunning and smart
What you seek is fame
The power it entails
The thrill of the game
You don't really care
Who will lose out
As long as your liked
By the people that count
But- as powerful as you become,
As big as you make it
You will never rise to the top
As long as you fake it
The leader who is legend
Whose memory never dies
Has the heart of the people
As one, combined
