The Prisoner

There is someone inside of me
Alive and well but not yet free,
Restless, fearless, full of wonder
I try and try to keep thee under.
A prisoner of the self am I
Both day and night alone I cry,
No one hears the voice inside
No one knows the pain I hide.
Seeming strong I glide through life
Though burdened by internal strife,
Giving all there is to give
So others' happy lives may live.
Even when life's got you down
Count on me I'll be around (for),
No one hears the voice inside
No one knows the pain I hide.
Despite all efforts in the fight
Destiny will set it right,
Either I shall become whole
Or leave this place without a soul.
Release me then and you will see
The prisoners' true identity.
