The Quarantined Teacher

By

I always dreamed of working from home
But this dream was crushed when it became the norm

Youthful faces through a screen
Zoom meetings on repeat
Sleepless nights
And worrisome dreams
This is the life of a quarantined teacher

Drive-bys to see the kids
Making sure they have enough
Baggies filled with pencils, paper
And tons of snacks
This is the life of a quarantined teacher

No hugs
No high fives
No laughs
No good times
This is the life of a quarantined teacher

They ask how much longer
They ask when can we go back
They ask if they can see us
They ask... for school
This is the life of a quarantined teacher
