The Real Soldier

We always give thanks to those who put their life on the line
To protect people like you and I.
But I'm thankful for my personal soldier
That tends to take the weight off my shoulders.

The one that's endured the most the most battles
The one I hear when my brain just rattles.
You've been my guidance through the toughest wars
I will take you for granted nevermore.

You beat your way through every obstacle
You refuse to be defeated
You pump out what is needed
And it has never been depleted

Through it all, I'll always know
Who helped me finish the race
Because while I'm alive
You always managed to keep a simple pace

So here's my thanks and I apologize
If it's a little overdue
But it took me some time to truly see
That the reason I'm here is you

It comforts me to know
We're never far apart
You're inside me literally
You are my heart.
