The Reality of the Fight

"She put up a good fight"
"He was a true fighter"
"Fight like a girl"
Fight the cancer
But these words
They give a sense of
Fighting these disease
This cancer
But with disease
Comes a literal fight
A fight unseen by
Most of the people
Who call you "a fighter"
You fight the pain
The pain of the needles
Constant needles
You fight the tears
Those that are yours
Those on your mother's cheeks
You fight society
"The girl with no hair"
The girl all the fundraisers are for
You fight death
The constant knock
Of death in the back of your mind
Respect those
Who fight
