The Roots of Life

The roots that hold us together.
That keep a tree standing strong
even when whirling winds come its way.

Six simple letters, and yet they contain my world.
Roots never abandon a tree,
just as my family will never abandon me.
Today the world is full of broken families.
Beautiful puzzles broken into pieces.
Each piece a small square of happiness
that doesn't quite match up.

The one thing that keeps me going
strong, into the waves of life,
when they seem to be determined to crash down
on me.

We contain a magic,
a magic the world tries to extinguish,
with tears and harsh words.
An unbreakable, beautiful magic.
