The Rose

The rose
So beautifully simplistic
Yet, as if to mirror life itself
Reveals so many different layers.
Beginning with the fragile, flowering bud
Balancing atop a still weakened stem
Growing into a strong, thorn-protected rose
Morning dew covers the petals
The aroma. it's almost seductive
Bending freely in the breeze
Seeds of rebirth scatter about
As the rose
Begins to fade and die
