The Rose

Tears fell from my eyes
Hot they were as they fell on the snow
Melting the cold heart of Winter's soul
And from that sorrow I then saw the rose
The lone red rose
Turning cold with falling snow
As the moon rose closely by
Grieving from behind dark clouds
And weaving forth a silver shroud
For the lone red rose
I saw the frost that kissed
Her crimson wings
The last bit of blood and life
Upon the dead and pale and white
So beautiful in death
As winter took away her breath
Snowflakes on her lifeless face
Once so full of grace
Melted and fell like tears
Hot they were as they fell on the snow
Melting the cold heart of Winter's soul
