The Salt-kissed Sea

Alone she walks the tawny shore,
Sun-warmed sand on her feet,
His body gone, his spirit there,
By the salt-kissed sea.

Once they played, they laughed, they loved,
Hidden by the rock-strewn shore,
Their young embrace away from view,
Except by the salt-kissed sea.

Clouds form, a shadow falls,
She shivers in its path.
With a sigh, she recalls younger days,
By the salt-kissed sea.

The ocean whispers, 'Come to me,'
Instead she turns for home.
She gathers strength to go on alone,
Away from the salt kissed sea.
