The Scream

As I take my first breath…
I scream the scream of my life
All I want is to remain flawless, limitless...

The world sees in me possibilities
Limited not by the sky
But the wardrobe - expands from birth
With cloaks of identity, beyond the name
Race, ethnicity, religion, language
And many more to put on proudly
I am expected to show off
Hold on to that difference
For that makes who you are
What we are....
Voices resounding
From the pulpits
And from the political stages
We are better than the others
Echoes deafening me...

In this divided colored world—
As I take my first breath
I scream… the scream of my life!
