The Shaded Barrier
Why does my color offend you so?
What did it do? I really must know
It's been with me my entire life
So how can it cause you any such strife?
You really should imprison such thoughts in your mind
Your children are listening, you're making them blind
Who taught you such evil? Such hate and disdain?
How can my color cause you such pain?
There's much more to me than you see
You are still bound in your own slavery
The power you give my skin is a waste
You're the one broken and ignorance is your paste
I cannot force what you don't want to know
All I can do is pray that you grow
And until then I've got living to do
What you decide next is all up to you
