The Shadow

What's darker than a shadow?
The look on my father's drunk face,
The void I feel from the absence of my mother,
The rage in my soul.
What's darker than a shadow?
The pity that oozes from the eyes of others,
The chasm between me and the rest of the world,
Their blindness.
What's darker than a shadow?
of the unknown,
of emptiness,
of living.
A shadow, a one-dimensional copy, is never as dark and
Ominous as my life,
It doesn't bleed, it doesn't feel, it doesn't cry.
It can disappear.
My life is darker than a shadow and there's no escape for me.
