The Silent Fighter

She was brave, she was stubborn
And so much more than a name
She was unique and spontaneous
Never two ideas the same
It's women like her
That people honor with ribbons
Each colors for a life
That no longer is with us
She had hope through her illness
Even the needles and doubts
She hung on every round
Of her heavyweight bout
She never gave up
Just kept pushing ahead
I was so proud of this woman
Though it never got said
She prevailed through so much
In a very short time
Her courage indescribable
Even as she was dying
We were lucky to have had her
For so many years
Forever blessed with her memory
To help through our tears
She was one you looked up to
Never questioning her strength
She was the perfect combination
Of a rebel with grace
Since she was more than a mother
Aunt, sister, grandma or wife
She still remains in our hearts
Keeping her spirit alive
