The Silent Witness

There’s a big tree in the green park
And underneath a bench
Sometimes occupied by an old man or two
Sometimes a couple fully drenched
Some reminisce the golden past
Some speak of the present
While others dream of a future bright
Every word is uttered to give vent
Whatever is said from morn till night
Under the cool green shade
If one can diarise the whole thing
An epic can easily be made
Alas ! there’s none to compose an Illiad or Odyssey
The only witness is the silent tree !
