The Singapore Watch

Dear Singapore, my love, you
tell the time so well that
I sometimes forget how
many cogs lie stacked, compact
in your belly of mechanisms
turning, whirling, intricate
each threatening to schism
from the larger body - apart
Water, concrete, glass, greenery
bind to form schools, offices, a city
A city that tells the time so well
Its own path through time - it cannot tell.
