The Snow-Cow Girl

In the land of empty past hills of shattered dreams
Through forests of lonely heartache and pain
A wondering path of what could have been
Leads an expanse of doubt worrying across seas of forgotten tears

The fading call of the potential bird
Sits untouched on unseasoned branches
Wishful and thinking winds are still
While grounds of skill find labor vacant and fallow
Beneath callous skies, unforgiving chance and opportunity left behind

In the days of bewildering plenty
Where the streets, highways, boulevards and interstates
Supposedly shiny the brand new intersect
Droning promises an impenetrable barricade of broken down truth

Amid the voices profoundly confusing in misdirection
Just past the make-up history library
Where bastion towers immense, unknown, misbegotten wealth parks
Shadows within unbelief center on unsustainable creaking benches
Forever cycling through beholden, unmoving, sitting and silent

A little wooden hovel heart
Stands alone too small for ego
Within, the flickering candle of untainted imagination
Beholds the snow-cow girl
