The Sound of Loss

The thunder clouds are rolling in,
the sky is getting dark.
The happiness begins to fade,
only silence from the lark.
My heart is filled with pain and loss,
there's anguish in my soul.
What used to be all joy and love
is now a giant hole.

You said after death
that the world still goes on,
the clouds still roll by
while the birds sing their songs.
But my world has turned black,
somber sounds fill the air.
Fleeting moments of joy,
the rest a living nightmare.

So how do I get the sun to come back,
how can I make the pain fade?
I wish with my heart you were here with me now.
You always knew just what to say.
