The Spider\’s Prey

Ensnared was my heart in your webs of false love,
Silk which glistened beautifully in times passed,
Sparkled with great promise, fidelity, tenderness,
But the illusion of light has receded from my prison,
Of dark silk which you spun to entrap my naive heart,
And the sword of revelation has severed my bonds,
Your life-draining fangs can harm me no more.
