The Star That Once Was

Out of all the stars in our little constellation,
she burned the brightest.
How could anyone outshine her?
The burn-out of such a bright star was imminent,
yet we all assumed we had eons.
When this beautiful star finally ceased to shine into the heavens,
she left the rest of us lost in the darkness.
Her death exploded into the night, and we all hid, hid our
feelings and our memories out of fear.
The black hole left behind by such a star sucked us in but it was
also her light that lead us out.
