The Stars and the Stripes

I raise my hand high.
Seeing the flag,
Cover the man hidden inside.
See them walk by,
My friend in their hands.
How could his life,
Just come to an end?
His wife and his son,
Left lonely at home.
She sits there tonight,
Her heart feels like a stone.
He left us with reason,
He fought for our rights.
He did it for us,
And for the stars and stripes.

This poem was inspired by the men and women of the United States military and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis. They fight for our freedoms and our rights, and most don't take into accout at what cost. I am joining the US Army on August 17, 2015, and look forward to serving my country no matter what the cost. God bless the men and women of the United States military. I look forward to joining you out there as a military police officer! Hooah!
