The Struggle

Children dying, no food, no home to stay in
Living life one moment at a time
No one seems to understand their struggle
But I wonder what if their pain had been mine
Every hour darker than before
Every dream shattered
Every open window just another closing door
My heart hardened like stone
My veins cold as ice
And as I keep asking why
Water fills my eyes
Cause I realize I'm all alone
But instead I continue on my journey
As if none of this exists
There's sons and daughters that will never make it
Because of negligence just like this
When will the world wake up
When will people see
The pain and the suffering that surrounds us
That's our true reality
Let's quit being bystanders and start standing by
This next generation needs it
Let's give hope to those kids with nothing
Let's give them something to believe in
And may God be with us every step of the way
