The Summer Storm 2

By JennB

The sky lit up. The air crackled and glowed.
He kissed her right there. She didn’t say no.
It was a rush, so electric, and out of control,
Like a summer storm, this meeting of souls.
It was thrilling, exciting, dangerous, and fast.
They thought it’d pass quickly, that it’d never last.
But this wasn’t a night like all the others before.
She needed him, wanted him, craved so much more.
It was new and exciting, it was scary and real.
He needed her, wanted her, he couldn’t wait until
They’d see each other again, and further explore
This electric connection they’d never felt before.
It burn hot, it burned fast, it consumed them complete.
It happened so fast in the summertime heat.

Summer love, like a flash in a thunderstorm,
They grew so close on those nights so warm.
How could it be wrong? It felt so right,
Crashing and coming together each night.
They were learning and loving, moving at high speed.
Didn’t know what it meant or where it would lead.

Like a summertime storm, flashing in the dark,
It Doesn’t last long, but makes it mark.
These two flashed together and burned so bright.
Got pulled separate ways, but sometimes at night
Thunder will rumble in the distance real low.
They think of each other—that fire, that glow.
It still washes over them like they were back in time,
Just young lovers together, no reason or rhyme.
She still needs him, still wants him, craves so much more.
How’d she lose him she wonders? She’s not really sure.
He still needs her, still wants her, still nothing compares
To the summer they had without a care.
Summer storm so thrilling, dangerous and fast
It passed so quickly, they wished it did last.

Summer love, like a flash in a thunderstorm,
They grew so close on those nights so warm.
How could it be wrong? It felt so right,
Crashing and coming together each night.
They were learning and loving, moving at high speed.
Didn’t know what it meant or where it would lead.

Most summer storms are just a flash and then through,
But this one left its mark on me and on you.
